Today, 5 May, Daunis Auers, Chairman of the Board of the LaSER think tank, appeared on Latvian Radio’s Brīvības bulvāris programme, where he discussed the functioning of Latvia’s political system and opportunities for its improvement in the context of the pre-election period.
The programme also highlighted the key findings presented in LaSER’s latest report, Latvia’s Political System: The Road to Capacity for Action. During the discussion, Daunis Auers emphasised that Latvia’s democracy is not under threat, but that the political system must be modernised to enable it to respond more effectively to contemporary challenges. He also noted that improving the system does not require fundamental changes or amendments to the Constitution, but rather targeted improvements to the existing legal framework.
