On March 4th, at the Medical Education Technology Centre of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), LaSER Director Daunis Auers presented the findings of the report “Foreign Students in Latvia: Economic Potential”.

The aim of the study is to explore global international student flows, their regional distribution, and to assess the contribution of these students to the Latvian economy. The first chapters of the report focus on the dynamics of international student mobility worldwide. The final chapter examines the number of foreign students in Latvia, their countries of origin, reasons for choosing Latvia as a study destination, and their subsequent career paths. It also includes estimates of the economic impact of foreign students in Latvia, as well as insights into graduate integration into the Latvian labour market.

The presentation was followed by a discussion moderated by RSU Vice-Rector Toms Baumanis, featuring Daunis Auers, LaSER co-founder and economist Ģirts Rungainis, Mayor of Riga Vilnis Ķirsis, and Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health Artjoms Uršuļskis.
