On 21 April, Jānis Ikstens and Harijs Kārkliņš, co-authors of the LaSER think tank’s latest study, “Latvia’s Political System” appeared on the programme “Kur tas suns aprakts?”. In the study, Jānis Ikstens analyses the effectiveness of Latvia’s political parties, while Harijs Kārkliņš examines the electoral system and how the public elects its politicians.
During the programme, the researchers explained the main findings of their respective sections of the study while also discussing Latvia’s political system in a broader context. They emphasised that political parties and the electoral system are only part of a broader political system, the effective functioning of which depends on the interaction of several interconnected elements.
