Today, on 16th July, think tank LaSER presented its latest study focusing on the analysis of the defence industries of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, as well as outlining future development perspectives in the context of the changing security environment.
The author of the study, Roberts Kits, presented the key findings, highlighting the current state of the Baltic defence industry, its main challenges, and opportunities to strengthen regional defence capabilities through closer cooperation between governments, businesses, and the defence sector.
Following the presentation, an expert discussion took place, bringing together different perspectives on the development of the defence industry, cooperation between the public and private sectors, and strengthening regional competitiveness. The discussion featured Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis, Chairperson of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Katrīna Zariņa, Chairperson of the Saeima Defence, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention Committee Raimonds Bergmanis, and Māris Kuda, representative of Origin Robotics.
The discussion was moderated by Toms Rostoks, Vice-Rector for Research at the National Defence Academy of Latvia.
